How is Lyme Disease Treatment by OWM different?
As leading experts on Lyme Disease, OWM Integrative Wellness founder, Dr. Leonard Kaplan and OWM Naturopathic Doctor, Dr. Kim Howes use advanced diagnostic tools to develop powerful approaches to fight the life altering effects of Lyme Disease. Individualized treatment plans combine the best of conventional non-intravenous antibiotic treatment with a unique synergistic light-activated botanical therapy and other modalities to minimize the load on the immune system. Clients report positive outcomes unlike any other treatment they have received, in less time and fewer visits, often resulting in lower cost compared to competing clinics.
OWM Integrative Wellness combines its extensive knowledge of integrative and naturopathic medicine, and experience with Lyme and CIRS (Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome) illness, with a large set of sophisticated treatment options to guide our clients through this complicated illness to recovery.

Naturopath, Dr. Kim Howes Explains Everything You Need to Know About Lyme Disease
What are the symptoms of Lyme Disease and Lyme coinfections?
The earliest signs of a tick bite will be evident by a small, red bump, similar to a mosquito bite. Tick born disease can spread to other parts of your body over months and years after the infection, causing long term arthritis and nervous system issues.
Acute Symptoms (generally occur within a month of the bite)
- Rash can spread to an area 12 inches across
- Rash can be itchy and warm to the touch. (Note: Lyme disease can occur without this rash)
- Fever, chills, fatigue, body aches, neck stiffness, headache and swollen lymph nodes
- Rash in other areas of the body
- Severe joint pain and swelling (especially in the knees)
Chronic Symptoms — Now called CIRS (Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome)
- Neurological problems (weeks, months or even years after infection)
- Severe fatigue
- Diffuse muscle and joint pain
- Multiple chemical sensitivity

In 2014, OWM Integrative Wellness launched as a concierge medicine model that does not accept insurance. Not being constrained by insurance gives each client greater access to our medical providers, as well as longer appointments that allow for a deep dive into the root cause of illness or pain. This model provides the time necessary to develop highly personalized treatment plans that enable OWM’s clients to reach their optimal health.
